Helium (Refined)
Feedstock: Natural Gas
Refinery Fraction: Natural Gas Trace Extraction
The Engineering Blueprint
- Refinery Parent: Natural Gas Stream
- Process: Cryogenic Distillation
- Tray Position: Gas Fraction (Top)
The Realist Argument
Helium is a "geological gift" found almost exclusively in natural gas deposits. Without its extraction during gas processing, high-field diagnostic imaging would be physically impossible.
Human Impact & Utility
The ultra-cold coolant required for the superconducting magnets in MRI machines and particle accelerators.
